About our courses*

How often do you schedule courses
Courses are scheduled throughout the year. New courses our listed on the websites home page regularly.

The course I want is not being offered right now. Can I make a special request?
Yes. Simply send me an email with the course you'd like to take and I will be sure to offer in the next course cycle. Alternatively, all my courses are also available as a private consultation.

Is pre-registration required?
Yes. My courses are structured around the participants and will differ based on several factors, like your baby's age, which enables me to be fully prepared to offer the best experience to my participants.

Can I just show up on the course date without preregistering?
I don't recommend it.

When will you cancel a course?
Courses will be cancelled due to lack of interest or if I have a family emergency. Knock on wood.

Why did you ask my t-shirt size?
The carriers I bring to a course are tailored to the participant. For example, when teaching wrapping I need to have the right length on hand. A 6'6" man will never be able to use a 4.0 wrap for a back wrap cross carry.

About our rentals

How long are your carrier rentals?
Our carriers rentals are various periods in length, from one week to two months, depending on the carrier.

Can I rent a carrier for longer or shorter than indicated on the carrier listing?
Most carriers can be rented for varying periods of time, excluding most special occasion carriers. Contact us, tell us the name of the carrier and how long you'd like to rent it.

Can I rent a carrier LESS time?
Carriers must be borrowed for a minimum of one week, but they may be certainly offered for less time than indicated in the listing. Contact us, tell us the name of the carrier and we'll get back to you with the rental fee.

Are there late fees?
If the carrier is returned late, we assume that a new rental period is needed and another rental fee will be applied to your account.

Are we sent reminder notices?
No. When you rent a carrier, you will be told when it needs to be returned. It is your responsibility to ensure the carrier is returned in on time.

Do you keep waiting lists for your carriers?
We will not be keeping a waiting list for carrier rentals at this time. All carriers are rented on a first come, first served basis.

When I rent a carrier, do I get any take-home instructions?
Clients who pick up their items in person will be shown one carrying position. Otherwise, the local babywearing group, BWIC Ottawa Group, is a great place to learn how to use the carriers. We can also provide paper copies of various carrying positions; a fee of $0.50 per page will be applied.

About the mandatory deposit*

Why do we have to pay mandatory damage deposit? The mandatory damage deposit is designed to replace the carrier at full value the minute it becomes lost. This guarantees that I will always be able to offer the variety of carriers in my collection should my original go missing or be damaged. It is fully refundable upon return of the carrier in good used condition.

How do you determine the mandatory damage deposit for hard to find items?
We take the average selling price on the market and convert it to Canadian dollars. If the item is impossible to find, the deposit charged is based upon the replacement cost for a comparable item.

Can my baby spit up and drool on the carrier?
Baby spit up and other common everyday signs of use are expected. I’ve always believed that carriers are to be used, not kept in museum-like condition! The damage deposit is really for excessive damage to the carriers.

When will you keep the damage deposit?
The deposit will be kept when the carrier is returned is poor working condition: This includes torn seams, holes in the fabric, frayed carriers, missing buckles, excessive staining or bleaching of the fabric.

Your deposit may be partially held back if costs such as professional cleaning must be incurred.
